Your Sleep Will Be Better with Nora Mattress If

  • You want a hypoallergic bed: Nora has hypoallergic properties which means that if you have allergies or asthma, it makes for a good pick. The foam is CertiPUR-US Certified and therefore not harmful to you or the environment.
  • You sleep on your back or stomach: It has a more than average firmness feel, which I rate at 5/10. That comfort level would suit back and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers because of high pressure would be uncomfortable sleeping. Unless you’re heavy, any other side sleeper will develop pressure spots and experience some aching.
  • You love the foam feel: It’s constructed using layers of memory foam. It, therefore, gives the memory foam feel. You’ll experience some sink, but thanks to the high-density foam layers, you’ll be ‘on’ rather than ‘in’ the bed as they offer some bounce.
  • You have a back injury: The firm surface and the memory foam layer contour to your body and give you pressure relief while sleeping. This makes it suitable for spinal alignment and anyone having a back injury.
  • You want fast delivery: If you’re in a hurry to get your purchase, it’s a good choice as delivery to any part in the US will take two.
  • You’re looking to sleep cool: The top and second layers are a memory and cooling gel infused foam layers that help you stay cool as you sleep. It has well-developed cooling features for a foam. The cooling layer absorbs your body heat and draws it away from the mattress.
  • You want value for money: It’s a high-quality bed that has great value for money. Compared to other similar bed in box brands, they retail quite cheaply. The biggest size retails for slightly under $1,000. The Queen is available at $749.
  • You’re a light sleeper: Among the most outstanding features of foam beds is their ability to limit motion transfer. Nora isn’t any different, if you’re a light sleeper and share, this may be a good choice. You’ll no longer have to wake up when your partner turns or when they leave or enter the bed.

Your Sleep Probably Won’t Be Better with Nora Bed If

  • You prefer a spring feel: Nora is constructed purely out of foam, therefore, if you want a spring feel it’s not a good alternative.
  • You’re a side sleeper: If you love sleeping on your side, it may be too firm for you, and you’ll develop pressure spots causing you to ache or have an injury.
  • Want good edge support: Foam beds are notorious for not having strong edge support. Nora has the same challenge. All its features ranked, edge support doesn’t perform as good. It scores low on my scale.

How It’s Designed

Designed Construction Reviewed

Nora has an outward appeal. A look inside the mattress core reveals a carefully crafted and designed product. Overall, I found the materials and quality score 9.1/10. They got sleep experts to work on its development. The 12-inch thick bedding has four layers of CertiPUR-US Certified foam and a Jade-infused covering. Let’s take a look at Nora’s design.

Jade-Infused Cover: Apart from adding appeal, it has cooling properties. When I got hot, this removable and washable cover stayed way below my body temperature helping me stay cool. The cover fabric has a ‘cool to the touch’ feel. It, therefore, helps with thermoregulation.

Gel Infused Memory Foam Layer: It is 2-inches thick with gel particles that give you relief as you sleep. It’s the layer at the top and adds a plush feel, keeping you cozy. This memory layer conforms to your body removing pressure spots, therefore keeping you supported and comfortable all night long. It also helps you stay cool on top of pressure relief because of the gel infusion.

Gel-Infused Cooling Foam Layer: Beneath the memory layer; we have the gel infused cooling foam. This layer solely serves to keep you and the mattress fresh. At 3-inches thick, it has gel particles that absorb the heat from your body and draws it away from the mattress. On top of keeping you cool, it also gives you support and comfort.

Two High-Density Support Foam Layers: Each is 3.5 inches thick. These support layers have grooves that keep you supported and balanced while sleeping on Nora. It holds your weight together with that of the top layers and provides pressure relief. It also adds to the durability and stability of the Nora. These are the layers responsible for keeping you cozy and not develop aches in your hip, shoulder and back regions.

Overall, I loved how Nora feels. I rate support and comfort at 9.1/10. This is because I felt sufficiently supported and extra cozy.

Our Opinion on Firmness

Nora – Is 7.5/10 on our firmness scale.

Nora has a firm comfort level scoring a 7.5/10. This is firmer than what most of us prefer. Sleeping on the mattress, I could feel my weight and the pressure supported by the layers from below. Although, the gel top layer contoured to my body shape and size, creating even weight distribution and providing pressure relief, it might feel a bit firm for some sleepers.

The foam is responsive to us and the posture that we take while sleeping. The cooling gel and high-density foam areas are responsible for supporting your weight and the top layer. The cooling gel is a transition layer that transfers pressure from the top layer to the two high-density foam layers.

Nora has some sink but gives the feeling of being ‘on’ rather than ‘in’ because of bounce and the counter effect of the layers below. For back and stomach sleepers, the shoulders and hip regions have sufficient support. They’ll also experience excellent spinal support and alignment because of the cozy comfort layer.

Motion transfer, like in most foams, performs well when reviewed. It scores a 9.0/10 which is pretty good. If you’re sleeping with a partner and miss out on quality sleep because of waking up when they make movements in bed, then Nora is an excellent choice. Nora has significantly reduced motion transfer.

Cooling Performance

How the Mattress Feels

Despite being very cozy and incredibly supportive, foam mattresses have one big disadvantage, and they get hot. Nora performs exceptionally well in cooling effect scoring a 9.0/10. The top and cooling layer are gel-infused, keeping you and Nora’s core cool as you sleep. The gel particles have thermoregulation properties.

Edge Support

I reviewed the edge: Foam mattresses don’t perform too well in this sector as I’ve noted in most of the reviews that I’ve done. You’ll not experience the same stable and firm support you’ll feel at the center at the sides. Nora tries but doesn’t rate as good, scoring an 8.5/10. It is its worst-performing feature.

Edge support poses a challenge to those sharing or intending to use the entire bed surface. You’ll feel slightly insecure sleeping in the different positions, but the base layers well support you. While sitting, you’ll feel like you’re about to fall but you won’t because of the support that you’ll get.
