Our Truthful Review of Snug Mattress (Find Discount Below)

At first, most sleepers had strong reservations against the idea of buying a mattress from the internet without trying it out first. It took a short while to get comfortable with that idea, but still, most of us like checking out bed shops.

Snug mattresses started with the stores and are now offering a competitively priced bed-in-a-box, Super Coolmax memory foam mattress. It’s one of UK’s cheapest online beds and has good reviews. I ordered it through their website, and it was promptly delivered. I gave it a careful and in-depth analysis which I think you’ll find very informative in guiding you to choose this beautiful bed!

Take a peek at the summary here.

The Snug Bed Cons That You Will Not Like

  • Limited bounce: Snug has limited bounciness which might not please sleepers accustomed to hybrid springs.

Construction and Materials (Our Impression)

Hand Feel Tests

The Super Coolmax has two layers totaling to a height of 23cm. I explored the internal construction and reviewed the quality of the materials used to fabricate it. The assembly seemed sturdy, and the foam felt high quality and luxurious. It rates 9.2 for material and quality.

The Cover: Made from a thin stretchy fabric that’s very flexible and highly breathable. It’s easily removable for machine washing or replacements. I found it very comfortable and feathery soft to the skin making it a perfect sleeping-on material. It regulates and maintains the core temperature at the optimum range for the most cooling sleep experience that I’ve had on an all-foam surface.

A natural probiotic treatment, Purotex®, is infused into the fabric to prevent bed bugs, dust mites, mold and other allergens, to achieve a hygienical sleeping area. The Coolmax technology on the cover is excellent at wicking away moisture from the skin before it accumulates to sleep-disrupting levels.

I tend to sleep hot and sweat quickly even under light cover, but on Coolmax cover, I remained comfortably dry after half an hour under heavy cover. I remained fresh overnight with the most cooling sleep.

The Comfort Layer: The comfort layer is composed of 7.5cm thermal-sensitive memory foam. This layer is responsible for the initial comfort that you enjoy when you get onto the Snug. It adapts to your body shape perfectly as it is sensitive to your body heat. When I got on top, it felt firm at first but gently softened as it warmed up. It molded into the cavities of the body, contoured and offered spectacular pressure relief for the key points.

The structure of the foam is new and offers better performance than the traditional memory. The open cell structure allows maximum flow of air for cooling and freshness. The arrangement facilitates ventilation which allows the maximum airflow within the mattress’s core.

There was no development of heat spots that could give rise sleeping hot. The new structure quickly dissipated excess heat from me as I lay on it. It maintained an optimum sleep temperature throughout the night as it is adaptable to the weather; keeping you warmer in the cold nights, and cooler during the hot ones.

The Foundation: Features a 15cm high-density core support foam that gives the mattress its shape and ensures durability. The profound base offers deep compression support to the sleeper for a full pressure relief experience no matter the sleeping posture. It gives a firm pushback that couples with the cloud-soft comfort layer to provide an all-around supportive sleeping surface.

The foam features computerized precision-cut channels for more breathability than regular core foams which is critical for keeping the core fresh and free from dampness and pests. It also enhances air circulation which is useful for heat regulation. The thick foundation offers an excellent base for dissipating excess heat.

Opinion on the Firmness Performance

Snug Super Coolmax – Is 6/10 on our firmness scale.

The Snug Super Coolmax has a rating of 6/10 on my firmness level scale. The luxury visco-elastic memory foam softens from your body temperature and contours to the curvature, relieving pressure on shoulders, neck, hips, and back. Doing away with the need to toss and combined with the excellent motion limiting capabilities, the Coolmax delivers the most comfortable sleeping surface. The support and comfort rating for Snug is 9.4.

The medium feel that it gives is perfect for supporting the back properly in all the sleeping positions that I tried on it. I slept on my back, and the comfortable foam felt terrific. Lying on the stomach was comfortable without creating uncomfortable pressure in the chest. The hips received steady and firm support. Sleeping on the side also was comfortable with the hip and shoulder pressure points receiving enough compression for good pressure relief. Weight distribution was even in all the positions.

Motion transfer feature on the Coolmax is remarkable rating at 9.2. For those having a co-sleeper who moves a lot, you should try this bed out. It does a wonderful job at isolating and limiting motion to the originating spot. This feature suits couples as it reduces disturbances to or from the partner moving a lot during sleep.

Superior Outlast & Original Outlast – Are 6/10 on our firmness scale.

Snug offers other models with different settings for addressing more specific sleep requirements. The Superior Outlast rates 6/10 for the medium firmness surfaces that it provides. It suits combo sleepers who sleep in various positions and want a surface balancing comfort and support. The Original Outlast has a firmness level rating of 6/10, another medium surface offering a universal accommodation.

Pocket Sprung 1200 – Is 7/10 on our firmness scale.

Pocket Sprung 2000 – Is 8/10 on our firmness scale.

The firmer hybrids Pocket Sprung 1200 and Pocket Sprung 2000 with ratings of 7/10 and 8/10 respectively, give a firm surface with lots of comfort for a well-balanced supportive mattress. They provide proper spine support and alignment in all sleeping positions and mostly recommended for back and stomach sleepers.

Cooling Thoughts

Cooling on the Coolmax is distinctive from all other memory foam beds that I’ve reviewed. Rating at 8.7, it’s among the most cooling surfaces on mattresses in this category. I remained at optimum temperature after sleeping covered heavy for half an hour. The cover is very breathable for allowing maximum breathability for adequate ventilation and air circulation. It’s very thin for enabling good interaction with the cooling foam below.

The foam features enhanced thermoregulation features for allowing heat to disperse through it quickly. Minimized heat retention discourages development of heat spots that lead to sleeping hot.

Edge Support

Mattress Reviewed While Sleeping

When reviewing brands from this category, I’ve noted that they don’t perform well on this parameter. They lack a well-defined system that offers extra reinforcement against the increased pressure and compression. The Coolmax stands above this drawback with an outstanding edge performance rating 8.8.

I tried the major sleeping positions, and the results were impressive with full-body support and well-balanced, and even weight distribution for proper spinal support and alignment.
